The core of the DVD Player and the important part for most of us is playing back DVD's. Alsmost everything about playing back DVD's is well documented in the manual. However there are some unique functions in this player wich you don't or rarely see in other DVD players wich might interest you. Those are mentioned here.
A really unique function that Panasonic DVD Players have for a while, is the possibility to actually lower the subtitles. Everyone which watches there DVD's with subtitles on knows that this is a bless. How many times you see 2:35:1 aspect ratio DVD's, where (when not zoomed) you still have small borders on a widescreen TV, the subtitle is placed within the viewable area. Wouldn't be nicer to lower the subtitles so it is placed partially or even complete in the remaining black border? The Panasonic DVD players can do this and it's even possible to adjust the brightness of the subtitles. See an example with the movie the Matrix:
Normal playback:

Subtitle lowered (sorry for the shakiness):

These are the options the player offers with showing DVD subtitles:

It is not possible to adjust the size of the subtitles with DVD playback.
Also many Panasonic DVD Players can fast forward with sound. Just with modern PC media players, the pitch is lowered so you actually can understand and hear the part you fast forward. The player is even fast enough to show the subtitles.
This player can play DTS Audio CDs directly without need of external DTS decoder connected via digital output. It just gives a stereo signal trough the normal left/right analog output, the scart connection and a 5.1 signal trough the 5.1 analog outputs. Plus ofcourse a real DTS signal trough it's digital connections.
If you do this on a other DVD Player (tested with a Philips), there is no audio signal trough the analog connections.
DVD-RAM, Advanced zoom, FL-Dimmer, advanced GUI, many picture/audio options.
Bother players are free of the chroma bug.
