News and updates:

New fake firmware files!
Unfortanly history repeats itself, the new hacked firmware files for the Panasonic DVD-S325 and Panasonic DVD-S53 are reported to be fake and they will brick your player! The files are released by a person calling himself panasite. It is no coincidence that the emailadres Tom uses for his closed Panasonic site is panasite@aol.com. So just as in the past he again releases fake firmware files. This time it is really unkown to me why he did this and why after such a long time of inactivity.

The files where released trough newsgroups and rapidshare on 12 July 2008. Here is the list and names of the bogus files so far (this is also for users searching them in Google):

Panasonic_DVD-S53_UOP_and_Region_Free_Firmware_402.zip (WARNING: FAKE!)
Panasonic_DVD-S54_UOP_and_Region_Free_Firmware_470.zip (WARNING: FAKE!)
Panasonic_DVD-S325_UOP_and_Region_Free_Firmware_377.zip (WARNING: FAKE!)
Panasonic_DVD-S33_UOP_and_Region_Free_Firmware_399.zip (WARNING:FAKE!)

Please help out  by pointing people to this site when you see someone posting these in forums or other places!

UPDATE (21-08): Tom even released more fake files (also for the S33 and S54), these are now added to the list.

UPDATE (24-08): Unfortanly the chipped remote sellers are using the release of these fake files to spread misleading info on the working modified firmware files. Read  more info on this in this topic on the forums.

New hacked firmware for Panasonic DVD-S325 and DVD-S53?

It seems like that last month (July) new hacked Panasonic DVD-player firmware has been released for the DVD-S325 and DVD-S53 players. The new hacked firmware is said to make the player regionfree and disables UOP. Panasonic firmware hacker Tom claimed in the past that he had hacked this new type of firmware (these players are using other firmware than the ones currently available on this site), but he never released the files. As the real origin of these files are unkown, it is not known if the released files where Tom's work or someone else.

Because of fake firmwarefiles in the past, I for now will not post these files or links to them, as it is possible that using these files might brick your player!

If you have more information on these files or want to share your experience please use the forums!
